Wow, what a year it has been. The sentencing of Stephen Grant, Tara's murderer was a little over a week ago and yet it still seems like yesterday when I heard the news that Tara was missing. I feel as though a weight has been lifted with the sentence that was handed down - 50 to 80 years. Finally, justice was served and Tara's light will continue to shine in the darkness that consumed this past year. As Tara's voice, I have discovered my calling in life. Tara's death will serve to help others suffering from their own domestic violence situation and maybe, just maybe with education and support those in these types of situations will have the strength and courage to leave. As I have said so many times, if this can happen to Tara, it can happen to anyone. As I have reflect this past week on all of the events of this past year, I am numb. Not really believing all that I know to well to be true. Tara's life may have ended abruptly and without reason one year ago, but I believe there was a reason, only known by God. Of course my earthly mind tells me that Tara's death will ultimately help others. This I truly believe and that is why I will continue to advocate for domestic violence and be Tara's voice, all with the hope that one day this disease will no longer exist!
I just finished watching tonight's airing of Tara's story on Dateline. What an unbelievable recount of what we and really all those that followed Tara's story endured over the last year. There is not a day that goes by that I do not think about Tara and wish with all my heart that I could hear her voice again or see her face. I am not sure I could have made it through this past year without the support and prayers of all of you. Each person who leaves a message on Tara's website helps me in a way that is difficult to put into words. I feel as though all of you have helped me grief the loss of Tara and in doing so, she is still alive to me. Her spirit and story has touched so many people near and far that she will always be with me. Maybe not in the flesh anymore, but in spirit for sure. Thank you again to all of you. You have been there every step of the way and it has made this journey a little bit easier to endure.
God Bless! |

I want to thank everyone for their prayers during this very difficult time. I just watched the remembrance video of Tara and with tears I want to thank you for such a tribute to my beautiful daughter. I can't express how touched I was and have been by everyones thoughts and prayers for our family. These prayers have taken us through a full year of sorrow and without them I am not sure we could have indured so much. God Bless you all. Please continue to keep us in your prayers.

I hope in time the pain will ease its hard to lose someone you love no matter the cause. I feel that Tara's life was ended so soon for a reason that didn't need to be. Although I did not know her I am sure she was a great woman from what I have heard and read. May her memories live on.

I ran across your clip on yahoo sometime ago and for some reason I saved in my favorites. Time had passed and while watching TV one night I saw your story on a FBI based series, I recognized it immediately.
I was very happy to hear that he got a lengthy sentence, although it won't bring back Tara I am happy for all of you that you did get closure to this tragedy.
I am truly sorry for your loss and I hope that time will heal your family's wounds.

Dear Alicia,
I just watched the Dateline piece for a second time. I was so touched by your final words about Tara's children, now your children. Thank God that they have a family member such as yourself and your husband to help then find peace and normalcy in their futures.
I wish you all the very best in the new year and always.
Margie

Hello Alicia. I am an actor who recently completed a Crime Stories episode based on what happened in your family. Firstly, let me give my condolences to you and the entire family. I felt it was so important to portray what happened. I actually play Stephen Grant, but did so going in thinking that in no way, shape, or form do I want this to glorify him in any way. The result was I feel was a true depiction of him as a monster. I believe Tara is now in the loving grace of God, and wish all of the family all the best. God Bless.

Alicia, I just watched your interview on the news and wanted to say that Tara would be proud at the wonderful job you and your husband are doing with Lindsey and Ian. They appear to be happy and adjusting well. Stand firm with your beliefs and everything will work out for all of you. Tara was blessed to have you in her life.
