Wow, what a year it has been.  The sentencing of Stephen Grant, Tara's murderer was a little over a week ago and yet it still seems like yesterday when I heard the news that Tara was missing.  I feel as though a weight has been lifted with the sentence that was handed down - 50 to 80 years.  Finally, justice was served and Tara's light will continue to shine in the darkness that consumed this past year.  As Tara's voice, I have discovered my calling in life.  Tara's death will serve to help others suffering from their own domestic violence situation and maybe, just maybe with education and support those in these types of situations will have the strength and courage to leave.  As I have said so many times, if this can happen to Tara, it can happen to anyone.  As I have reflect this past week on all of the events of this past year, I am numb.  Not really believing all that I know to well to be true.  Tara's life may have ended abruptly and without reason one year ago, but I believe there was a reason, only known by God.  Of course my earthly mind tells me that Tara's death will ultimately help others.  This I truly believe and that is why I will continue to advocate for domestic violence and be Tara's voice, all with the hope that one day this disease will no longer exist!

I just finished watching tonight's airing of Tara's story on Dateline.  What an unbelievable recount of what we and really all those that followed Tara's story endured over the last year.  There is not a day that goes by that I do not think about Tara and wish with all my heart that I could hear her voice again or see her face.  I am not sure I could have made it through this past year without the support and prayers of all of you.  Each person who leaves a message on Tara's website helps me in a way that is difficult to put into words.  I feel as though all of you have helped me grief the loss of Tara and in doing so, she is still alive to me.  Her spirit and story has touched so many people near and far that she will always be with me.  Maybe not in the flesh anymore, but in spirit for sure.  Thank you again to all of you.  You have been there every step of the way and it has made this journey a little bit easier to endure.

God Bless!

I just want to say thank you so much for speaking out on domestic violence, the moment I heard about this tragedy I watched and prayed day in and day out for the children and the family. Not only did I pray for you all day in and out(and still am), but it opened my eyes to my relationship with my NOW EX husband. Thanks to you speaking out I have gotten out of a relationship that was not only dangerous to myself but also to my children. And I cannot thank you enough. I will continue to pray for you and your family on a daily basis. God bless you all

Hello. I came across Tara's story while researching homicide cases for a paper I am writing for a criminology class I am taking. I was so touched and saddened by this story and my heart goes out to her family - and especially to her beautiful children. However, they won't ever have to wonder what their mother was like. I know that you will keep her alive in their minds and hearts every day. May God grant peace to all of you. Judy Wilcox

Alicia you and your family have my blessings and prayers. I could not imagine ever loosing my big sister, especially to domestic violence. I do realize it can happen to anyone. I am inspired by you and your family for having so much strength. When i heard about Tara's story, it touched my heart and life so much. I believe she was a wonderful person and may her soul rest in peace. May God give the system strength to see the children belong with their new parents, and should never be tormented by their past. Rest in Peace Tara.

Alicia, Mary and Dusty! My condolences to your family... I learned about Tara's death on the news and my heart sank. However, I knew that if any family could pull through something like this, it would be your family. It's been along time since the days at K.I. Sawyer, but you definately played a role in my life and I'm forever grateful. You are a very special family and deserve nothing but total happiness! Take care and best of luck to you. Ricky L. My prayers are with your family. We feel like we all knew her even for that short time. It touched us in our hearts. And am glad that he is getting the time he deserved. I want to say also that I think that it is great that you and your husband took her two children and will be raising them. She will always be remembered and I know that looking into her daughters eyes you will always see Tara.

Alicia, It saddens me to see that you and your family have to go back to court. I know this is a tragedy for the Grant family as well. The best interest of the children is most important. I am formally from Michigan and have followed this story since the beginning. In all of the interviews that I have seen you in, you are very well spoken and show your love and care for Tara's and now your children. I pray that the court does what is "RIGHT". Best Wishes.
